The students of Department of Civil Engineering, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management, Nagpur had organized  central India’s largest civil techno event NEEV – A National Convention of Civil Engineering Students on 15th,17th,18th & 19th October, 2016 under the banner of CESA-Civil Engineering Students Association. More than 1000 Civil Engineering students participated in six different technical events & two workshops from all around the Central India. NEEV 2016 this year aimed to promote the concept of SUSTAINABILITY IN CIVIL ENGINEERING.

The NEEV started its activities by organizing a social event on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2016 as their Corporate Social Responsibility towards society & named it as NEEV-Our Social Face with the collaboration of a home grown NGO “Sankalp-Nayi Soch Nayi Ummeed”. This drive included Cleanliness Drive at Futala Lake where local cleanliness NMC workers were also felicitated with a shawl & a memento. A free Health Check up Camp at the Sundergarh High School with Awareness for under privilege people was organized under the guidance & collaboration with Meditrina Institute of Medical Science and a Tree Plantation Drive near RCOEM Campus.

NEEV2016 was formally inaugurated on 15th October. The chief guest for the function was Dr. Vimal Ghalot, Engineer, PWD Research Wing, Bikener, Rajasthan. The day then began with the first workshop of NEEV conducted on the idea of “Attitude Aptitude Attribute”enhancement of corporate skills of participants. The extravaganza of NEEV continued on 18th October too as formal two days technical Workshop on this year’s theme “SUSTAINABILITY IN CIVIL ENGINEERING” was inaugurated. Both the workshop got a huge applause from the participants as renowned faces with great experience & expertise in the field gave the lectures on the workshop topics.

NEEV2016 also had its celebrated events Mad-4-Cad, Tender-Filling, Buildcon, Elucidation and Elevate also started with a great enthusiasm on 17th October whereas the Town-O-Planner event started on 18th October. Students participated in a huge numbers in all the events and workshop in a thirst to learn something new and return back with cherishing memories.

STTP on “Embedded Systems using Raspberry Pi Single Board Computer”


The Department of EC of RCOEM organized ISTE approved STTP on “Embedded Systems using Raspberry Pi Single Board Computer” during 3rd oct to 8th oct 2016.

with the co-ordination of Prof. Anish Goel and Prof. Reena Rahate. Prof. Anish Goel highlighted on the topic Embedded systems with Rasberry –pi. Prof. Reena Rahate gave introduction of ARM Architecture. Prof. Vipul Lande conducted sessions on communication Interfaces with Rasberry-pi . The domain expert Mr.Ketan Paithankar from ProMax digital pvt. ltd, Nagpur gave exposure to Visual Computing with Raspberry Pi. Mr. Piyush Agrawal from KPIT technologies, Pune gave an insight about the application of single board computers in Embedded Industry. All the faculties of EC department worked dedicatedly for the success of STTP.

REEF (Shri Ramdeobaba College Engineers for Environment Forum)



REEF (Shri Ramdeobaba College Engineers for Environment Forum) the environment club of RCOEM, won the Vidarbha Bird Race organized by Maharashtra Forest Department in association with Birds of Vidarbha. It was arranged to during the Wildlife Week organized from 1st to 7th October 2016. This is the 3 rd consequent win of REEF in the past one and half years. REEF won among 30 teams that participated from all over Vidarbha. Rohit Hazare (3rd year EC) was the captain of the team. The other team members were Harjot Singh Kahai (4th Year Civil), Himanshu Gune (2nd Year, EDT), Atharva Mangrulkar (2nd Year, IT), and Udayaan Dyandand (2nd Year, Civil).

A bird race is where different teams visit various hotspots in a region which are rich in bird life. They correctly identify the bird species in the wild and list them out. The team which is able to identify the maximum number of species of birds in the wild wins the race. Winning is based on many aspects, knowledge about birds is most important.


RCOEM Students shine at Inter-collegiate sports


RCOEM Basketball (Men) Team won RTMNU Intercollegiate Championship third time consecutively whereas Basketball (Women) Team finished with Runner Up Place. Basketball (Men) Team also won The Punjabrao Krida Mahotsav Intercollegiate Championship second time in a row, Organised by DNC, Nagpur.



An International Conference on Management and Information Systems (ICMIS 2016) was held in Bangkok on 23rd and 24th September, 2016 organized by International Forum of Management Scholars (INFOMS) and Chitkara University. The paper titled “The factors of organizational role stress affecting the stress level of IT employees in Nagpur city” authored by Dr. Gayathri Band and Dr. Neeta Shah, of Department of Management Technology, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management and Mr. Sriram Rajagopalan , Electrolux Appliances, Dubai won the Outstanding Best paper Award at ICMIS 2016. The paper also received appreciation on the research carried out in the paper. Dr Neeta Shah also chaired a technical management session in the International Conference. 

Dr. Monika R Seth Brings laurels to RCOEM


Dr. Monika R. Seth , Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities has brought laurels to the college. She has received an International Honour as her name has been enlisted in prestigious International Publication entitled, “ASIA/PACIFIC WHO’S WHO” volume XIV published in 2016 for her academic achievements.

‘ASIA/PACIFIC WHO’S WHO’ volume recognises the outstanding achievements of people from Asia Pacific region who have significantly contributed for the promotion and amelioration of society in different domains.

Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol of RCOEM wins First Prize


Boys and Girls of RCOEM hostel took a unique initiative to make eco-friendly idol of Lord Ganesha made of Alum under the guidance of Adocate Pradeep Agrawal, Chairman temple committee. This initiative of RCOEM of Eco Friendly Idol carries a great social message that the time has come when festivals must be celebrated with eco sensibility.

The idol was declared the 1 st winner of Avaneesh….Pratham Tula Wandito 2016 by a NGO Kaazwa in association with mini ARTS event. The NGO has surveyed all Ganesh Mandles in the city and on basis of 10 ecofriendly parameters, rated the whole festival celebration on a scale of 10 in which RCOEM Ganesh Festival Celebration got the highest, 9 points as it celebrated Ganesh festival in most ecofriendly manner. We are thankful to the NGO for spreading awareness in the society about ecofriendly celebration of festivals.

Students of Boys and Girls hostel such as Vishal Bagadiya(CSE – final year), Sagar Pokarna (Civil – final year), Sahil Saraf (Industrial – final year), Ayush Gandhi (MAM – fourth year), Pratik Mantri (Civil – final year), Pratham Singhaniya (Civil – final year), Abhishek Agrawal (Civil-final year), Tejal Chandak (Civil – final year), Radhika Agrawal (Civil – final year), Soniya Agrawal (CSE – final year) , Sumit Karnawat (Industrial – Third year), Krishna Agrawal (Civil – third year), Nipun Agrawal (IT – third year ), Sourabh Shah (EC – third year ), Harshit Nanda (EN – third year), Nishant Agrawal (Industrial – third year), Jayesh Chandak (Civil – third year ), Ayur Chourasiya (EC–third year), Yash Agrawal (CSE – third year) and Arya Agrawal (Civil -- third year) put their immense efforts in making this celebration a grand success.

Students also took the initiative of donating notebooks and stationary items to the children of orphanage which was a grand success. This celebration ultimately ended with immersion of Ganesha on 11th September, 2016 and students of Boys and Girls hostel celebrated Ganeshotsav with their immense contribution towards environment.



e-Library Inauguration



Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, MP and Former HRD Minister inaugurates e-Library at RCOEM

Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Member of Parliament and Former HRD Minister of Government of India recently inaugurated the e-Library at Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, in the function organised on this occasion. The Program was presided over by His Excellency, the Governor of the State of Assam Shri Banwarilalji Purohit who is also the Chairman of the college.

The program started with singing of the National Anthem. Dr. R.S. Pande, the Principal of the college welcomed the chief guest Dr. Muli Manohar Joshi by presenting him a copy of Gramgeeta of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj. On the occasion, Dr. Pande in his introductory remark highlighted the journey of excellence of the college in the last 32 years. He emphatically mentioned that the e-library is essential for the proliferation of knowledge in modern ICT era. Libraries are regarded as temples of knowledge.


His Excellency, the Governor of the State of Assam Shri Banwarilalji Purohit felicitated the chief guest. The book entitled, “Ek Ziddi Prayas” written by Shri Shyamsunder Rathi, Chairman Steering Committee was presented to the chief guest on this occasion. Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi who himself is a well-known academician and a great intellectual of repute applauded the efforts of RCOEM to set up e-Library. Dr. Joshi stressed the need of effectively utilising and applying modern technical knowledge to solve the present day social problems. He drew the attention to the fact that India since the ancient time has been the repository of all sort of knowledge including that of technical and scientific as well. There is a need to use Indian wisdom and knowledge for finding of effective solutions for the amelioration and development of society. He emphasised upon the need of conservation of natural resources like water so that the process of sustainable development can be carried out. He pinpointed that mere acquisition of virtual knowledge is not enough. Academia must make sincere efforts to understand the ground realities of nation and society.


In his presidential address His Excellency, the Governor of the State of Assam Shri Banwarilalji Purohit thanked Dr. Joshi for taking out time from his busy schedule to grace the occasion. He said that RCOEM is not simply committed to provide excellent technical education to the students but it takes every effort to inculcate high moral and ethical values in them. Shri Purohit pointed out that technical education without moral and ethical foundation can prove disastrous. Character building and high values make the education relevant for individual and collective good. Both the Vice Chairmen Advocate Chandrakantbhai Thakar and Shri Satyanarayan Nuwal and Shri Govindlalji Agrawal General Secretary RCOEM. were prominently present on the dais. Members of Executive committee of the college, HoDs, Deans, faculty members and students attended the program in large numbers.

The program was compered by Mrs. Pratishruti Singh Agrawal while Dr. Sanjay Bodkhe , Head Library Committee proposed the vote of thanks.
