The Workshop on Aptitude Development (WAD) a seven day workshop was inaugurated at Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur on 3rd July 2017.The chief guest of the function was Dr. P.G. Yeole, Pro Vice Chancellor, R.T.M.N.U.Shri Rajendra Purohit, Secretary RCOEM, Shri Govindlal Agarwal, General Secretary RCOEM, Dr. R.S. Pande, Principal RCOEM and Dr. Rashmi Shahu, Convener WAD were present on the dais.

Over 200 delegates from various colleges like IIIT Nagpur, D.Y.Patil College of Engineering Mumbai, Terna College, Mumbai, National Law University Delhi, Manipal University, BIT, Durg and different colleges from Nagpur participated in the workshop. In her opening remark Dr. Rashmi Shahu, Convener WAD, said that the aim of such an endeavor was to explore excellence within an individual to help him reach to highest altitude. Dr. R.S Pande, Principal RCOEM, welcomed the chief guest Dr. P.G.Yeole. He also appreciated such kind of workshops and emphasized on the need to expand them on a local level. Quoting the famous autobiography of Jack Well, He said that our problem is instead of thinking mediocre and achieving it, we should think high and have high ambitions. Dr. R.S. Pande also stated that such kind of workshops prove to be helpful in placement procedure.

Dr. P.G.Yeole, in his inaugural address enlightened the audience with his inspiring words on the importance of presentation of individual’s personality and character. He also shared his views on job interviews and gave a few tips on the same. He explained the difference between aptitude and attitude relating it with sharpening the acquired skills and developing the inbuilt skills. Giving the famous concept of three mothers Dr Yeole said that our first mother is the biological mother, the second one is the teacher and the third one is our profession. Dr. Yeole also spoke about 3 D’s,that should have in every student’s life i.e. Discipline, Dedication and Determination. Shri Govindlal Agarwal in his presidential address spoke about how Engineers are leaders of the world, He also said that every student should learn to change oneself and accept others. He assured the delegates that this 7 day workshop will give a life time learning to all the participants

“Swadeshi, economic and sustainable innovations is the need of the hour and we all must strive incessantly to achieve it”, asserted Shri Nitin  Gadkari at the inauguration of Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon ’17, a pan Indian 36 hour nonstop digital programming competition, kickstarted at Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management, Nagpur to conduct this mega technical extravaganza.


The event at RCoEM, Nagpur was formally inaugurated by Shri Nitinji Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister, Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways, Government of India. He was welcomed by the Shri Chandrakantbhai Thakar, Vice Chairman, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management. Shri Nitin Gadkari, spoke extensively on the theme ‘wealth from waste’ like biofuel, lithium battery, ethanol, etc. where he said that knowledge is the locus for futuristic development. He stressed on the fact that research and innovation is the need of the hour and students have a huge responsibility of coming up with sustainable and economically feasible solutions for the betterment of the countrymen. He elaborated on the various ambitious projects that the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways is undertaking for cost-cutting benefits. He mentioned about the state-of the art 9km long road tunnel that has been constructed at Srinagar which will be inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modiji, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 2nd April, 2017. Shri Nitin Gadkari gave a clarion call to all the students and technocrats to contribute in nation building by encouraging swadeshi technology. He wished the students a technologically sound future. He also interacted with the members of the participating teams to know about their domain of problem statements and how they planned to come up with solutions. Prominently present at the occasion were Shri Dilip Malkhede, Advisor, AICTE;  Shri Govindlal Agarwal, General Secretary, RCoEM;  Shri Rajendra Purohit, Secretary, RCoEM;  Shri Shyamsundar  Rathi, Shri Sanjay Agrawal, Shri Dwarkaprasadji Gupta, Executive Members, RCoEM;  Dr R S Pande, Principal, RCoEM & Nodal Officer, Smart India Hackathon’17, Nagpur; Dr M B Chandak, Assistant Nodal Officer and delegates from NIC, Persistent Systems, various faculties and Heads of the Department, RCoEM. The programme was compeered by Prof Pratishruti Singh-Agarwal.

The icing on the cake for the participating teams at Smart India Hackathon’17 will be the live video interaction of PM Narendra Modi with over 10,000 young innovators across India today late evening. The 36 hour event includes hands-on training sessions by AICTE personnel, who will be also judging the competition. The panel of judges from the Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways includes Mr Sanjay Jaju, Director, NHIDL; Mr R C Palekar, General Manager, NHAI; Mr Vipin Mangla, General Manager, NHAI; Mr Mansoor Ul Haque, Director, MIC; Mr Sandeep Kumar, General Manager, NHIDL; Mr Tarun Srivastava, Director, NIC; Mr Shishir Dani, Project Manager, Peristent; Mr Madan Tiwari, CEO, Click2Cloud and Mr Kunal Kuller, Manager, NHIDL

The judges for the event at Nagpur centre from the Persistent Systems include - Mr Jaydeep  Ayachit, Mr Rahul Gade, Mr Niket Pathak, Mr Sachin Khot, Mr Naresh Waswani, Prashant Chaware, Shailesh Wadhankar, Prakshit Umare, Manoj Dhanorkar, Vinit Kapoor, Laxman Potbhare and Rajeev Reddy.

Recreational activities like yoga and zumba dancing have been planned to ease the young innovators’ minds during the hackathon.  The event will conclude on 2nd April, 2017 at 8:00 pm followed by valedictory function across all the 26 centres where prizes worth more than 50 lakh Rupees will be given away. All the prize winners will be connected to form a ‘Community of Innovative Minds’.

ELECTROLITZ Student’s Society of Electronics Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management organized National Conference & Project Competition ENNOVATE 2017 on 24 March2017. Mr. Vinod Kumar Agrawal, CPM (Tele & Operation), Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation was invited as Chief Guest. The theme of the competition was “Challenge your Creativity”. E-book of abstract was released on the occasion.

Dr. R. S. Pande, Principal,RCOEM presided over the function. & Dr.(Mrs.) A.A.Khurshid, Head of Electronics Engineering department and staff members of Electronics Department were prominently present. Around 550 Students from various colleges participated actively in Project and Paper Competition. The projects were evaluated by eminent experts from industry and academia. Mr.Biswarajan Beura ,DY. General Manager (S&T),Nagpur Metro Rail Project, Mr.Cristian Bostan,Chief Signaling Expert,General Consultant,Nagpur Metro Rail Project, ,Mr.Arvind Kolte,Director ,Electronics Control System,Mr. Akhil Bahale,Director,Sterling Electricals & Technologies, judged the innovative project models of the participents.  The prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners at the hands of General Secretary Shri. Govindlal Agarwal. Prof. Poorvi K.Joshi & Dr. P.S.Jawarkar, conveners of ENNOVATE 2017 played a stellar role along with the staff members of electronics Department, Ms. Aishwarya Shrivastava, President of Electrolitz society and entire Electrolitz Team.

On March 21st, 2017 National Level CSIR-NEERI Conference on Water Scarcity and Awareness was held, which focused on the problem of worldwide water scarcity and pollution. Also the conference stressed upon the ways to save water and make people aware about it. The Conference was open to the public as well as press. Approximately 300 people were in attendance. During the conference, attendees shared opinions, thoughts and suggestions for about this topic. Dr.Rakesh Kumar, CSIR-NEERI Director; Dr.Pawan Labhasetwar, Scientist & Head, WT & M division were present, to discuss in the conference. They were the keynote speakers.

During the day, CSIR-NEERI had organised various competitions for Drama and Short Films so as to send a strong visual message to the common man making them alert and aware about the Water related campaign. NAUTANKI-The Drama Club, participated in the competition under the Dramatics category under the guidance of the club mentor, Mrs. Pratishruti Singh Agrawal.

Participants had the opportunity to represent their college in front of the foreign delegates present on and off the dais. They had to research about their character and relate it to the present day scenario. Our college secured the 3rd position and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.10, 000.We were also invited on March 22ndto perform again. At the conclusion of the conference, the club was invited by a member of a theatre group based in Mumbai and invited to Pune to perform the same play. The team comprised Script Writer: Saurabh Hardas Director: Mustafa Neemuchwala Cast: Amar Mishra, Nikita Sen, Nishad Janefalkar, Nishigandha Gawande, Vedant Vyas, Viddhesh Gharpure and Vivek Thaware.

Technovision 10.0

Technovision 10.0 - a national level technical festival is a part of initiative taken by the college with Technical Club of our institute to give an opportunity to budding engineers to implement their technical knowledge and explore their creativity. Dissemination of knowledge goes beyond classroom teaching. First Technovision was initiated with this vision 15 years before in the academic year 2002-2003.Silver Jubilee –Technovision 6.0 was a land mark event as it was inaugurated and graced by the presence of Honorable former president of India and well known Scientist Dr. A.P.J.  Abdul Kalam in 2010. Now this event has become the brand event of RCOEM.

This year the tenth edition of this technical extravaganza Technovision 10.0 was inaugurated along with Pratishruti 17 in the august presence of Mr. Rohit Dev, Co-Founder Ideas91, UAE, our own alumni on 6th March, 2017.

The event consists of many technical workshops on the recent trends, competitions, quizzes, challenging events.

To make aware about the recent developments in the field of engineering and technology to our students, we conducted six technical workshops on the recent trends like Big Data Science and Hadoop, Internet of things (IOT), Self balancing Bots, Additive manufacturing, Modern Surveying Techniques, and Technomusica-modern mixing of Music and technology. 275 participants from the various engineering colleges of the region have participated in these workshops. The speakers were from the industries like Robokart Mumbai, Capgemini Bangalore and VNIT Nagpur. All the workshops are well appreciated by the participants.

The whole journey of this mega event Technovision 10.0 was a memorable experience for all the participants as well as a very good learning experience for the entire Technovision team who worked very hard with full dedication to make this event a grand success.

Prerna 9.O – Spark of Socialism

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Dr. Bhau Daydar, NSS university coordinator, Dr. R.S. Pande, Principal, RCOEM, Dr. Mohgaonkar and Dr. S. Dogra, NSS Program Officer, RCOEM.

NSS unit of RCOEM is conducting its annual event Prerna 9.0, a four day event from 15TH Feb to 18thFeb  2017. The main aim of this programme is to create social awareness among technocrats by the means of various inter-collegiate competitive events.

Mr. Harshal Baheti and Ms. Vandana Singh, NSS Secretaries, formally welcomed all the dignitaries on the dais. They made students aware about the significance of social activities and described the objectives of NSS. Dr. Bhau Daydar enlightened us about our social responsibilities. Dr. R.S. Pande spoke about the commendable job of NSS volunteers. Dr. S. Dogra also mentioned the achievements of the NSS Unit in previous years and appreciated the dedication of volunteers. In the end, Mr. Yash Singhania, Joint Secretary of NSS, offered a vote of thanks to all dignitaries for gracing the occasion by their solemn presence.

After the Inaugural function, NSS Unit organized an event ‘JUNOON’, under the annual social event ‘PRERNA’,  that showcased talents and wonder skills of specially abled children. Their performance was awestruck. The Guest of Honour for the Event was Dr. Anantji Dhole , Assistant Manager, MHADA. The children were from various schools viz, Kalyan mukhbadhir vidyalaya, Dr. Sonutai Agnihotri Mukh Badhir Niwas Shala, New Life Centre School, May Flower School, Nandanvan School, Mukh Badhir School, Saoner and a solo performance by Nikita Trehan. They were an example to every person who thought life was useless or difficult to live. It showed how strong hearted these angels were. It was a successful event that was far mesmerizing and has set up pictures of these children in the hearts forever.

Annual Alumni Meet - Conclave 2017

To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, the Annual Alumni Meet- Conclave was organized on 28 th January 2017 in RCOEM campus. This year Conclave celebrated Silver Jubilee of 1991 Batch. It was felicitation year of 2000 Batch also. The occasion was graced by more than 100 Alumni and their family members ranging across various batches from various parts of the country and outside the country as well. The alumni visited their respective departments and met teachers.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr.R.S. Pande, Principal RCOEM underlined and praised the achievements of Alumni of RCOEM in all walks/spheres of life. He felt that it was matter of great pride for RCOEM family that its Alumni are holding positions of responsibility in various Government organizations, Private sector, MNCs, Academic Institutions etc.. Many of them are successful entrepreneurs providing jobs to others as well. He praised their contribution towards the growth of their Alma Mater and emphasized the need for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and RCOEM current students.

The meet was attended by Mr.Tushar Marghade, President, alumni Association, Senior Professors and faculty staff members of RCOEM. Dr.Mridula Korde, Professor In charge, Alumni welcomed the alumni and their family members in the campus and appreciated their zeal to assemble here despite the inclement weather. The meet was followed by cultural programme by Music club and Dance club students of RCOEM. Great bonhomie was observed everywhere with old students reliving their old memories with their batch mates, seniors and juniors. It was decided to strengthen the link between the current RCOEM students and alumni for their support to current students in the area of training, placement, career counseling and any other help. The Meet ended with promise to meet again and everyone bid emotional farewell to each other and their beloved RCOEM.

JASHN 2017 – Let’s Live it Together

Department of Management Technology (DMT), Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur organized Jashn 2017 - Let’s Live it Together in the college campus recently. This event was for the specially-abled children and children from orphanages. 185 children participated in the drawing and dance competitions conducted.

The program was inaugurated in the morning and the dignitaries present were – Dr. R.S. Pande - Principal, RCOEM, Dr. Rupesh Pias - Head, DMT, Dr. Neeta V. Shah – Professor, DMT, Professor Emeritus Q.H. Jeevaji, RCOEM and the judges. The drawing competition was judged by Mr. Sameer Hejib and Mrs. Neha Munje. The age groups were - 5-9, 10-14, 15-18. Mr. Vilas Dudhapachare from Bharat Muk Badhir stood first in the 5-9 age category, whereas Mr. Aryan from Shaskiya Mulanche Balgruh and Mr. Rohit from Samtha Anath Seva Ashram were second and third respectively. In the 10-14 age category, the first, second and third prize winners were Ms. Trushna Khairkar from Manorama Balsadan, Mr. Drungesh from Shaskiya Mulanche Balgruh and Mr. Suraj Patel from Balsadan Paranjpe respectively. In the 15-18 age category, the first, second and third prize winners were Mr. Shubham Prasad from Anath V.idyarthi Gruh, Mr. Sandeep Ramdas Arewar from Anath Vidyarthi Gruh and Mr. Sunil Gautam from Balsadan Paranjpe respectively. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Linky Parasnani and Ayush Singh.

The Cultural Program, which included a dance competition, wherein there were 9 competing teams along with 1 special performance by Ms. Purnima Das, a 9 year old National Dance Competition awardee; was held in the evening. The dignitaries present during the evening function were Dr. R. S. Pande – Principal, RCOEM, Dr. Rupesh Pais – Head, DMT, Dr. S. Dogra – NSS In Charge, Dr. Neeta V. Shah – Professor, DMT, Judges of the competition and other faculty members of the department. This competition was judged by Mrs. Renu Mahajan, Mrs. Maya Mukherjee and Mr. Hunny Khattar. The Cultural Program was anchored by Ms. Rashmi Naidu and Ms. Neha Barday. The teams from Matru Seva Sangh, Paranjpe Balsadan, Bharat Mook Badhir and Manorma Anath Seva Ashram won prizes for their commendable performances. The participating children were from 10 institutes/orphanages, namely, Matru Seva Sangh, Shri Kisan Mook Badhir, Jeevan Ashray Ashram, Bharat Mook Badhir, Manorama Anath Seva Ashram, Anath Vidyarthi Gruh, Samtha Anath Ashram, Paranjape Bal Sadan, Shaskiye Mulanche Bal Gruh and Vidarbha Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram. The Cultural Program also included a fashion show. The theme of the Fashion Show revolved around Indian Leaders and reformists. The organizing team executed a successful scrap collection campaign collecting approximately 6000 kilograms of scrap to raise funds for the event. Jashn wished to provide these children with an opportunity to showcase and enhance their talents.

DMT, RCOEM, even aims to provide these children with life-enhancing skills by the medium of workshops which will be conducted in the forthcoming months. The students of DMT distributed 75 blankets to the Matoshi Vrudhashram. The sponsors for the event were- Heritage, Avinash Developers, Rajan Raj Constructions, Royal Reality, DRA Consultancy, Ras Kunj (High-Tea), Saroj Bakery (High-Tea), Seth Opticals (Drawing Competition), Silver Systems (Prizes and blankets), Haldiram’s (High-Tea). Students from the Department - Ms. Reena Agrawal, Ms. Aarti Chandak, Ms. Priyanka Marda and Ms. Heena Budhwani, sponsored breakfast for the children. Mr. Jayesh Goyal, Alumni of the department sponsored blankets for the children. The Management Dr. R. S. Pande – Principal, RCOEM and Dr. Rupesh Pais – Head, DMT appreciated the event and praised the efforts put in by the participants and the organizing team.
