RCOEM organizes annual Inter-Collegiate sports meet “UDGHOSH”

Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management conducted its annual inter-collegiate sports meet UDGHOSH from 24th Jan – 02nd Feb, 2018. The event was inaugurated by Dr. R.S Pande, Principal, RCOEM in the august presence of Dr. S.D. Mohgaonkar, prof. R.S Dhiran,Shri Sanjay Kargutkar and other senior faculties. Dr. Y.M Sonkhaskar presided on the second day of the event.

Dr. R.S Pande, while addressing the students, stressed on the importance of sports and other extracurricular activities along with academics. He appreciated the efforts taken by the students for participation at university and various different levels.

Cricket Matches started from 24th Jan, inaugurated by Prof. Manoj Tiwari, Civil Department and Football Tournament started from 29th Jan 2018.

Twenty teams from different colleges across the Nagpur participated enthusiastically in this weeklong event. The sports cover under this were Cricket, Football, Basketball, Table-tennis and Chess. Also various athletics events were conducted during this time. The matches for all the sports were conducted at RCOEM Sports Complex, Mohali, and Nagpur.

69th Republic Day Celebration

On the auspicious occasion of  69th Republic Day, there was zealous celebrations organised on the grounds of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management, Nagpur by college management committee and NSS Unit of RCOEM. The programme started with Flag Hoisting at 9:30 A.M. by the hands of  Hon'ble Chief Guest  Shri. Govindlalji Agrawal (General Secretary, Shri Ramdeobaba Sarvajanik Samiti ) , Dr. R.S Pande (Principal, SRCOEM)  along with staff and students of the College.

                Flag Hoisting was followed by National Anthem, and then Chief Guest enlightened the staff and students about importance of freedom with his motivational speech. Various acts were performed by Music club , Dance club and Drama Club. The celebrations reflected Ashoka Chakra and it's meaning along with a drama performance on topic of women empowerment. The ceremony concluded with Vote of Thanks by Mr. Yash Singhania (Secretary, NSS Unit) along with distribution of sweets.

“Young Researcher” Award

    

Dr. Gayathri Band, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Technology has been conferred with “Young Researcher” Award in the individual category of the Republic Day Achievers’ Awards 2018 organized by Integrated Intelligent Research (IIR), Chennai. The award has been conferred for outstanding practices and contribution in the field of education & research. The function was held in Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET), Chennai on 8th January, 2018. She was conferred the award by the Hands of Dr. Kuppuswamy, Ex-Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University in the Presence of Dr. Shailendra Babu IPS, Director Assistant General of Police (Railways), Chennai as the Chief Guest.

 

Felicitation Rajneesh Gurbani

“On the day of Hat-trick, I was unaware of the moment when Hat-Trick was about to take place…I was dehydrated, then I heard the crowd cheering me for Hat-trick ball…I again gained my concentration and tried to aim for the third wicket…and it happened said Rajneesh Gurbani while recalling his thrilling experience during Ranji trophy 2017-2018 in the auditorium of Shri Ramdeobaba College Of Engineering and Management.

Rajneesh Gurbani (Bowler Vidarbha Ranji Team),the esteemed Alumni of Civil Engineering RCOEM Batch 2014, was the Captain of the College Cricket team, twice awarded as ‘Sports person of the year’ and was equally good in academics.He was recently honoured by Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management for his commendable achievement in the recently held Ranji Trophy Championship. He was welcomed by a cheering crowd of the college who had come to have a glimpse of their cricketing hero.

Rajneesh Gurbani an Alumnus of Department of the Civil Engineering branch of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management was felicitated by college in the presence of honourable General Secretary RCOEM Shri Govindlalji Agarwal and Dr.R.S.Pande, Principal RCOEM. 

Rajneesh interacted with the audience, his teachers and was nostalgic after coming back to his Alma matter. The audience got to see his journey from a short video which was made by the college students.

 

STTP on Practices in Computer Network Design & Implementation Inaugurated at RCOEM

 

An   ISTE   approved   Short  Term   Training   Programme(STTP)   on   "Practices   in Computer  Network  Design  &  Implementation"  organized  by  Department  of  Electronics Engineering has commenced at Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur.  In inaugural ceremony 01 programme, Chief Guest Mr. Christopher  John, Module Lead, Persistent Systems Ltd, Nagpur, Guest of honor Ms. Aruna Lambat, Solution Manager, IBM India Pvt. Ltd., Pune, Head of Department of Electronics,  Dr. (Mrs.) A. A. Khurshid, Convener 01 Programme,  Dr. Parag Jawarkar  and Prof. Nikhil  Damle, various participants from engineering and polytechnic institutes allover  Maharashtra  were prominently  present. Ms. Aruna Lambat deliberated on the technology used for network infrastructure design and implementation. In her keynote address she briefly discussed  breakthrough  in the network designs and computations. In his opening remark, Dr. Parag Jawarkar gave details 01 various sessions to be conducted in this week long programme from 27th   November to 2nd   December 2017 .In her address, Dr. (Mrs.) A. A. Khurshid hoped that deliberation  during STTP will give   new   ideas  to   the   participants   in  the  area   of   Computer   Network   Design  and lmplementation. Prof. Nikhil Damle proposed vote of thanks.

RUNNER-UP PLACE in RTMNU Badminton

RCOEM Badminton (M)  team  finished as Runner- Up in  RTMNU Intercollegiate Tournament from  7-9 Dec 2017 at Subedar Hall (RTMNU Sports Complex) !! Team performed well in a tough Final match. Congratulations to All players.

PRAGATI 2017

Chief Guest Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe inaugurating 'PRAGATI 2017' the one day workshop while Dr. S.P.Kane - VC RTMNU, Dr. Pramod Yeole - Pro VC RTMNU and Dr. Rajesh Pande- Principal RCOEM also look on.

Speaking on the occasion of PRAGATI- Project Reforms & Analysis Group for Adapting Technology in Industry - Workshop for Principals of Engineering Colleges in Vidarbha. Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe presented his perspective of initiatives to be taken on the academic and industry front to achieve academic excellence. He opined that the leadership has a major role to play which needs to be transparent, committed, ethical and value based with a clear vision and enunciated set of goals. He stressed on the three week internship for the students to provide an open forum for discussion, building confidence and breaking the ice to make the students feel connected with the institute.  He expressed the need for cohesion of teaching by industry and academia. Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe enumerated the various schemes and opportunities provided by AICTE by way of funding in the development of faculty, institute and students. He highlighted the importance of accreditation of the institutes to be at par in the quality of technical education.

PRAGATI workshop was organized to find ways to make the Engineering Human Resource more competent. It is necessary that the students get the exposure of Industry through the BE/ B.Tech Projects which they take up so that they are aware of practices and technologies applied in industries. This workshop was organized by Vigyan Bharti, Vidarbha Pradesh Mandal in association with Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA), an apex body of industries in Vidarbha and Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Nagpur as a host institute for the workshop on 2nd December, 2017. Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE was the chief guest of the programme.

          

The program started with lightening of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. R. S. Pande, Principal RCOEM, read out the message of Chairman RCOEM His Excellency Shri. Banwarilal Purohit Governor of Tamil Nadu, in which he expressed his immense gratitude to VIBHA and VIA for providing the platform of developing symbiotic relationship between the Industry Experts and Academic Experts. He gave his best wishes for excellent outcomes from the workshop that would go a long way in the growth of the nation.

Shri. Chandrakantbhai Thakar, Vice Chairman, RCOEM, welcomed the guests present on the dais and Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe was felicitated by him. Dr. Rajesh Pande introduced the host institution to the gathering and welcomed the guest. He highlighted the importance of practical knowledge in technical education and emphasized on importance on internships, consultancies.

Dr. Sunil Bhat, Coordinator PRAGATI, 2017 briefly introduced about Vigyan Bharti Vidarbha Parishad Mandal. He focused on the very serious issue about employability of technical students. He emphasized that the main objective of this workshop is to guide all Engineering Institutes in framing at least one or two projects related to industry background on the basis of real life problems.

Mr. Atul Pande, President, VIA proposed to form the entrepreneur forum to reduce the gap between the engineering institutes and industries. Around 250 industries have already given their consent for participation. He asked them to impart adequate exposure to their faculty also to meet industry knowledge. He focused on the first hand experience of the faculty members about the industry work culture.

               

Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chief Guest of Pragati 2017 urged the Principals to train their faculty members in Industry Oriented Projects. In his speech he introduced about the new planning of AICTE to enhance the standard of technical education.

Dr. S.P. Kane, Vice Chancellor expressed that engineering institutes are the production industry of technical graduates. He emphasized that there are many factors responsible for this unemploybility. All the graduates must able to read between the lines through their experiences in the industry.

Mr. Devashish Joshi, Member VIBHA and Dr. Preeti Voditel, Head, MCA Department, RCOEM compered the Inaugural Program. Shri. Chandrakantbhai Thakkar proposed the formal vote of thanks. He urged all the industry people and academic experts to work jointly on this problem.

Post inauguration three successful case studies RGSTC-TIFAC – MSME Internship programme of academia industry relationship was shared by Prof. Shewalkar from Mechanical engineering department of RCOEM and Mr. Akshay Shirpurkar, a student of Civil engineering department. Such case studies are indicative of the life-long learning, practical exposure and learning beyond syllabus.

In the third session Dr. Madhav Kumthekar, Principal, Government College of Engineering, Karad, Dr. N V Thakur, Ram Meghe College, Badnera and Dr. J F Agrawal, Shri Sai College of Engineering, Bhadravati, Gondwana University and Dr. B Ram Ratanlal, KITS Ramtek presented their concerns and views and efforts to make the students more employable.

Parallel technical sessions wherein the eminent speakers from Industry and VIA presented different ways in which there can be a symbiotic relationships between industry and academia. The eminent speakers for Information Technology were Pradeep Komari, Shekhar Patankar and Vinit Kapoor. For Electronics branch the experts speakers were Mr. Ashok Kale, Mr. Manish Wath and Mr. Sunil Sardey. Dr.Dilip Mase and Mr.Milind Joshi were the chief speakers of Civil and Environment Track. In the Mechanical track the speakers stressed on the use of low cost automation in the area of agriculture.

In the valedictory all the coordinators of the various tracks presented the problem areas presented by the industry experts and almost 30 problem areas identified for industry and academic interface to address these issues. Mr. G P Kundargi, Ex-CMD, MOIL and Mr. Shashikant Chaudhary, President TIE. Dr. Abhijeet Agashe, Coordinator of the event presented the Vote of Thanks.

AARUNI 2017

  • Aaruni is the Freshers’ event for the students of First Year.
  • The whole event is planned solely for the first year students, keeping in mind their expectations.

The event began with Happy Hours, a day full of sports and enjoyment, held on 29th October, 2017. The day comprised of inter-class sports competitions for sports like Basketball, Football, Throw ball, Volleyball, Tug of War, Badminton, etc. The sports events were followed by short performances by Dance, Drama and Music Club.

The theme for Aaruni this year was SMILE STONE, which was inspired by the life lesson of “An Extra Mile for a Smile”. The Aaruni night was the journey of a few miles for a smile, where all fresher’s dressed up their best to walk an extra mile for the smile.

Aaruni week began with various challenges, activities and contests.

 

 

IMPERA is the personality contest for the title of Mr. or Miss Fresher called Mr. and Miss Impera. The contest continued throughout the week and had various rounds in which people were eliminated and finally 6 students qualified for the stage rounds on the final day.
The first round was the personality form filling round. The second round consisted of the Aptitude Test for the selected contestants. The third round tested their general awareness, by conducting Group Discussions. The fourth round was the extempore round which judged the contestants’ verbal abilities and spontaneity. After all these grilling rounds, the selected few students went through a personal interview.  Out of 800-odd students, 6 (3 girls and 3 boys) went on stage to face the final rounds in front of their batch mates.

A new event “OPEN MIC” was introduced this year for the students so that they can showcase their unique talents in front of the college. Cultural Auditions were conducted for the students in which a few students were selected to walk the ramp, dance and sing on the final day. The final day, that is the Aaruni day witnessed the final round of Impera, followed by Cultural Evening.
The cultural evening had various performances by the students of First Year, which were prepared after rigorous practice.

The performances were followed by a grand prize distribution ceremony in which various awards, along with the most anticipated, Best Section Award was declared. The award for the best section was won by Section C. Onkar Dahule was crowned as Mr. Impera while Poonam Jain won the title of Ms. Impera.

The evening was followed by dinner, the menu of which is quite liked by the students.
The event was conducted and received with immense zeal, enthusiasm and happiness.
