SAHYOG (Skill Development Program ) Inauguration

“Gaining knowledge is the first step to wisdom, sharing it is the first step to humanity”

SAHYOG is an initiative taken by the NSS unit of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management which aims to make children computer literate. It is a skill development platform that aims at bridging the gap between technology and students. All the basics of computer will be taught by the volunteers.

NSS students designed a curriculum and a syllabus for the course and set a target time in which the course will be completed. Several schools were approached and students were finalized on the basis of a questionnaire. The classes would be conducted on weekends and after completion of their course, students will be provided with a certificate.

SAHYOG was inaugurated by Dr. R.S.Pande, Principal, RCOEM on 28th of February, 2020 in presence of Mr., Sanjay Kargutkar, Administrative officer, Dr. Amit Anurag, NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Amrita Pande, Asst Professor and the entire NSS team.

The inception of this programme took place at the computer centre of the college. The idea was to make aware the students of the latest technology and the next moment the NSS volunteers started working with full zeal and enthusiasm.The principal appreciated this noble initiative. It was a moment of pride that the work was given at the hands of the NSS unit.

 

Aeromodelling Competition at Sports Complex RCOEM under VORTECHX 3.0

Mechanical Engineering Department of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management organized Aero-modeling competition in association with Aeronautical Society of India under VortechX 3.0, the third edition of the biannual National Student Convention on 23rd February 2020 at Sports Complex, Mohali, Dorli.

The event began with felicitation of The Chief Guest R. Shrivastava, Group Caption Indian Air Force and secretary ASI, Nagpur. The event was followed by a spectacular aero-modeling show conducted by Fali P. Buxy, Instructor and Judge for the event, who showcased variety of different Remote Controlled (RC) aeromodels.

The participants came with RC Glider Plane, was aerodynamically sound and within the specified dimensions to achieve a successful flight. Performance was judged on the basis of ‘Gliding Time’ and ‘Spot Landing’. A total of 13 teams from all across Nagpur participated in the competition which witnessed a huge footfall of enthusiastic students and youngsters.

Dr. M. M. Gupta, Dr. K. N. Agrawal, Dr. Alok Jha, Dr. Pranjali S. Deole, and other faculty members of Mechanical Engineering Dept. RCOEM were prominently present on the occasion.

The chief guest R. Shrivastava and Fali P Buxy praised the students who demonstrated skills in the competition. The event concluded with a stunning aerobatics demonstration hosted by Mr. Fali P. Buxy and his team who also appreciated the students and encouraged them to continuously participate in such competitions. Shikhar Chakravorty, Yash Kela and Umang Chandarana and student coordinators of VortechX 3.0 worked hard for the success of the event.

Pratishruti’20- The Annual Cultural Festival of RCOEM Celebrated

The Annual Cultural extravaganza ‘Pratishruti 2020’ was inaugurated at Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management.

The prestigious Inaugural of the ‘Pratishruti 2020’ took place on 5th February 2020 in the college premises in the esteemed presence of the chief guest, Mr. Manish Verma, Technology Head, Sony Pictures Network India and the event was presided by Shri. Govindlal Agarwal, General Secretary and President of the function; Shri. Kailashchandra  Agrawal, Secretary; Shri. Rajendra Purohit, Secretary ; Shri. Ashokkumar Pacheriwala; Dr. R.S. Pande, Principal; Dr. Y.M. Sonkhaskar, Dean SRC; Dr. S. B. Pokle, Prof. In-charge, Pratishruti ‘20; Mr. Yash Khandelwal, Cultural Secretary, SRC who along with the other members of the staff and the students present at the ceremony admired the stupendous views of the respected chief guest.

The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp. Dr. Y. M. Sonkhaskar in his opening remark gave the brief description about the mission of the Students’ Representative Council and the motto of Pratishruti. Mr. Yash Khandelwal presented the Pratishruti’19 report. Principal, Dr. R. S. Pande enlightened the gathering with the annual report and the various achievements of the college as a whole. He also appreciated and congratulated students who have won competitions related to curriculum as well as extracurricular activities. Dr. S. B. Pokle, Prof. In-charge Pratishruti’2020 gave an introduction of Pratishruti and introduced the Chief Guest Mr. Manish Verma. The event was followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest by the hands of Shri. Govindlal Agarwal. The Chief Guest is a distinguished alumnus of the college and he shared the experiences of his college life. He told the importance of how college inculcates values, principles and knowledge and that, extracurricular activities are as important as any other courses. He also gave the 4 point mantra which should be looked upon by any and every individual to shape up a 360 degree personality, the four points being about Intellectual qualities, Curiosities, Attitude, Analytical and Logical Theory. Talking about The Champaran Movement and The Civil Disobedience Act he took us through times when there was no “Google” or technology and how things went. He also congratulated the organizing team while telling the importance of leadership, event management, crowd handling and competitions amongst various life lessons. Shri. Govindlal Agarwal gave the presidential address. He started citing examples from the Vedas and the necessity of music, dance and drama in one’s life. He congratulated all the achievers and praised Pratishruti associating it with Youth Power as a Superpower. The ceremony was concluded with the recital of the National Anthem. The ceremony was compered by Mr. Harish Biyani and Ms. Sejal Kapoor while the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Arjun Agrawal.

Valedictory Function

Pratishruti-2020, three day long annual cultural festival of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management concluded with the valedictory function held in the college premises on 7th Feb 2020. The event was graced by Chief Guest and alumnus of RCOEM, Mr. Vishal Agrawal, Director  R C Plasto Tanks and Pipes Pvt. Ltd., Secretary and President of Function Shri. Rajendra Purohit, Dr.  R. S. Pande, Principal; Dr. S. D. Mohgaonkar, Dean, Second Shift; Dr. Y. M. Sonkhaskar, Dean Students Representative Council (SRC); Dr. S. B. Pokle, Professor Incharge Pratishruti 2020, Dr. Amit Anurag; Head, Physical Education and Mr. Yash Khandelwal, Cultural Secretary, SRC Mr. Varun Tiwari and Ms. Ayushi Mohota NSS Secretary, Mr. Shashank Pahwa and Ms. Samruddhi Khamgaonkar Sports Secretary, were present on the dais.

The chief guest being the 1996 batch alumnus of the college shared some experience of his college life which motivated the students. He shared his success mantra by citing stories and instances at his workplace as well as in family. The reason behind the success of Plasto as stated by him is “Focus”. He enlightened the audience and suggested students to try everything but concentrate on one aspect and it will surely turn out fruitful. He also suggested taking advice from people around in order to perform any task better. He also informed the students to believe in self develop inter-personal and intrapersonal skills for growth, to take initiative and be proactive and have positive orientation towards life.

 

Dr. S. B. Pokle, Professor In-charge Pratishruti 2020 presented brief report of three daylong events. Dr. Y. M. Sonkhaskar, Dean SRC introduced the chief guest. Prizes for the various events held under PRATISHRUTI 2020 as well as Merit based Scholarship to all excellent performing students in academics and Incentive Prizes for the sports activities were handed over by the dignitaries present on the dais. Electronics and Communication Engineering was adjudged as best branch for the year 2019-2020 and received the prestigious “Nityananda” rolling trophy popularly known as the Branch Cup.

Mr. Varun Tiwari and Ms. Ayushi Mohota presented the annual report of the NSS for the year 2019-2020. Mr. Shashank Pahwa and Ms. Samruddhi Khamgaonkar presented the annual sports report. The event was compared by Mr. Parth Dapurkar  and Ms Sanskruti Deshpande. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Akash Chopade.

 

UDGHOSH 2K20 - 4th Season

The college playground of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere from 17-28 January 2020 as the Department of Health,  Physical Education and Sports Organized  its 4th  season of UDGHOSH 2K20: An Invitational Inter-Collegiate Sports Festival which was held in the Sports Complex of RCOEM on KATOL Road .

The event began with Cricket being the first game. Overall 12 teams participated in Cricket; basketball and football saw a gathering of 08 teams; and 37 participants for chess. Total 441 players participated in the 4th season of UDGHOSH.

The Valedictory of UDGHOSH 2K20 was held on 28 th January 2020 at MBA Auditorium of the College. Mr. Atmaram Pandey Sir (HOD, Dept of Phy Edu, P.W.S College and Ex-Director, Department of Physical Education & sports, (RTMNU) was the Chief Guest.  Dr. R. S. Pande, the Principal of RCOEM, in his principal’s remark motivated the students to participate in Physical activities along with academics and congratulated the winners. The prize distribution ceremony started with the Guest’s remarks. The events filled in the hearts of everyone with the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.

The Head of the Department of Health, Physical Education & Sports, Dr. Amit Anurag gave a brief introduction of UDGHOSH and also explained its extravagant journey from the year the idea was conceived till the successful completion of IV season of UDGHOSH. Assistant Professor, Dr. Amrita Pande, gave away the vote of thanks for the event.

Prof. Dept. of Health, Physical Education & Sports, RCOEM) Samruddhi Khamgaonkar and Shashank Pahwa (Joint Sports Secretary), Gautami Thakare, Nipun singhal (Joint sports Secretary) Sanjeet Muley,  Rutvik Bhute, Ayush Tripathi, Eashan Sanghi, Nachiket Mairal, Pranay Jha, Manish Rai, Nandini Chandak, Sneha Tembhare played a very crucial role in the successful conduction of UDGHOSH 2K20.

The event ended with a promise made by the Department of Health, Physical Education & Sports, RCOEM that in the coming years too they will keep on organizing such events with some more innovative ideas to nourish mind and body and fill the students with more healthy ideas….

71st Republic Day Celebration at RCOEM

26th January is celebrated all over India as Republic day.  It honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect. On the auspicious morning of 26th January, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management celebrated 71st Republic Day. It was organized by all college Students Clubs of SRC and NSS Unit with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Republic Day Celebration started with reading of Preamble of Constitution which was followed by hoisting of flag by Shri Govindlalji Agrawal, Honourable General Secretary in presence of Shri Kailashchandraji Agrawal, Shri Bhagwandasji Daga, Shri Dineshji Agrawal and Principal Dr. R.S. Pande along with all Faculty, Staff and students. The national anthem echoed in the entire campus. The moment was full of pride and love for mother India. Chief Guest Shri Govindlalji Agrawal then addressed the gathering and inspired them about their duties and responsibilities towards our country.

Keeping SWARAJYA as a theme, various activities were performed depicting the journey towards swarajya. It was pioneered by Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It was his wholesome aim to attain swarajya for motherland. In order to give him a tribute various performances were done. Dance club, Music Club, Drama club and literary club performed various patriotic activities which illustrated the bravery and power of Indian warriors. It also made people aware about importance of Make in India. These activities overwhelmed everyone with pride of being Indian. Lastly Mr. Varun Tiwari, NSS Secretary expressed his gratitude in his Vote of Thanks.

JASHN 2020 – Let’s Live it Together

Jashn - Let’s Live it Together, is an event organized by Department of Management Technology (DMT) and NSS Unit, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur on 25th January, 2020, for children from orphanages. A full day event was conducted for these children to participate and enjoy. 83 students participated in drawing competition and more than 60 in dance competition. The program was graced by the presence of–Shri Govindlal Agarwal, General Secretary, RCOEM, Dr. Amit Anurag, Head NSS, Dr. Chandan Vichoray - Head, DMT, Dr. Neeta V. Shah, Professor, DMT, Dr. Vandana Gandhi, JASHN Coordinator and the judges, during early morning hours. The drawing competition was judged by, Ms. Aparna Gupta, Ms. Arpita Munje, Mr. Gajanan Bhusari and Ms. Garima Mehta. The age groups for drawing competition, held in the morning were - 5-10 years, 11 to 15 and 16 to 18 years. Three prizes and two special prizes were awarded in each category.

Dance Competition was held in the evening. The dignitaries present during the evening function were Dr. Amit Anurag, Head NSS, Dr. Chandan Vichoray - Head, DMT, Dr. Neeta V. Shah, Professor, DMT, Dr. Vandana Gandhi, Jashn Coordinator and Judges of the competition and other faculty members of DMT. This competition was judged by Ms Tamanna Dave, Mrs. Sangita Ghosh and Smt. Renu Mahajan. The event was compered by Mr. Ashay Lanjewar, Mr. Ayush Mate and Ms Guneet Chhabra.

First Prize was awarded to Sunshine Foundation, second prize was awarded to Jeevan Ashray and the third Prize was awarded to Bal Sadan. Special prizes were won by children from Shraddhanand Ashram, Rahul Bal Sadan and Govt. Boys shelter home.

The event was sponsored by Bhandara Urban Cooperative Bank, Milton dresses, Uddhar Foundation, Kekiz, SPL Fitness and students. Lunch was sponsored by Reyansh Soni.

For this Event, the organizing team executed a successful scrap collection campaign collecting more than 8 tons of scrap. A team of about 40 students was involved in making the event successful. The students visited different orphanages/ schools and conducted dance workshops for these children. Mr. Sanjit Mulay, Student coordinator, JASHN 2020, concluded the program by proposing vote of thanks

HR Shapers Conclave at RCOEM

The Department of Computer Application, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management and Nagpur HR Shapers jointly organized a Conclave themed “Future of Work” comprising of Panel Discussions of eminent speakers and over 60 participants working as HR professionals in different companies.

Prof. P. Dwaramwar gave the opening remarks by welcoming the HR fraternity and focused on the need to prepare our students for 2030 by emphasizing on the need of Learn, Unlearn and Evolve. He talked about need of such platforms for fruitful interaction and networking of industry professionals and academia.

Mr. Ashish Gakrey, Founder of HR Shapers thanked RCOEM and Department of Computer Application for providing suitable platform for the HR meet. He talked on need to organize such informal gatherings which can help to provide solutions to real time issues faced by the industry. He focused on how such panel discussions outside the formal settings can help to visualize out of the box solutions.

The Chief Guest of the function Dr. Sanjay Muthal, CEO - Kontempore Leadership Solutions & Services gave the keynote address and focused on Technology becoming central locus to human existence today and warned that the impact of this ever increasing technology is highest in India since we are the suppliers of “technical minds” to the world. He talked in depth regarding changing paradigms of today’s work culture and influence of Gig economy and uberisation of work force talent. He gave insights into how open working spaces are growing rapidly and becoming popular. He pointed out the ever increasing influence of AI-ML in today’s work place where human “thinkability” is outsourced to machines which define new work technology demographics to industry 4.0 version.

Dr. Rajiv Khaire, Prof-In-Charge Industry Institute Interaction Cell RCOEM, took the gathering through different milestones achieved by the institute since its inception 1984 to 2019. He also presented the ways in which industry and institute can collaborate together to create Centre of Excellence or design company-oriented courses.

HR from different companies like Kartik Vyas, Head Marketing Infocept,  Shabbir Bharmal, DGM HR - National Cancer Institute,  Shirish Ghude, Group Head HR – Solar Group,  Ashish Gakrey from HR Shapers (Moderater), Madhuri Helchel from Hindalco Ind, Arpit Rahamatkar from Lupin Ltd., Pankaj Deshpande from Dassault Systèms, Kalpana Kudlingar, Head Campus Recruitment Track Lead M&A - Persistent Systems ,  Namrata Chudiwale, Director HR – Technomile and Shishir Dani Program Manager, People Analytics - Persistent Systems  participated in the Panel discussion on “Future of Work”.

Dr. Abhijeet. R. Thakare, Co-ordinated the event, Prof. Kaushik. Roy, faculty and students of MCA department took efforts for the successful organization and completion of the event. Prof. Neha Kasture compared the event and proposed the vote of thanks. The event was a huge success because of constant motivation and guidance from management and Principal.
