RCOEM stood in top 10% of National Employability Award 2021 by Aspiring Minds

Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur, Maharashtra is amongst top 10% colleges in India who excelled in AMCAT test. The award is based on the performance of final year students in AMCAT 2021.

About National Employability Award (NEA) : 

The awards started in 2012 by Aspiring Minds, are the only awards given on the basis of actual performance of students on a standardized test and not on the basis of superficial factors like infrastructure, faculty etc. Through these awards Aspiring Minds felicitates the colleges which are in the lead on the basis of scores of their final year (2021 batch) students on AMCAT, India’s Largest Employability Test.

Ramdeobaba College have always stood amongst 10% colleges in Maharashtra state. For the first time Ramdeobaba College of Engineering is amongst 10% colleges in India.

ICESC-2020 : An International Conference Organized by Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, RCOEM

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management (RCOEM) Nagpur has organized3 rd International Conference on “Electronic Systems, Signal Processing and Computing Technologies (ICESC-2020)”during 4th & 5th December,2020.The conference was organized in association with University of District of Columbia, Washington DC, USA with BSNL, Nagpur & AirTelwere knowledge partner, IEEE Bombay Section as Technical sponsorer and Helix International Journal as publication partner.

The international advisory committee of the conference includes Dr.Kanti Prasad, University of Massachusetts, Lowell, USA, Dr. DevdasShetty, Dean School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, University of District of Columbia, Washington DC, USA and Dr. Douglas A. Buchanan ,University of Manitoba, Winipeg, Canada. The National Advisory Committee includes Dr. K.M. Bhurchandi, Professor, Dept of ECE, VNIT Nagpur, Mr.YashPanhekar, GM, BSNL Nagpur, Mr.AkhileshYede, VP, Head of Engineering-IoT, BhartiAirTel, Bengaluru, Dr. G. Sreenivasan, Scientist-SG & Dy. General Manager, Regional R mote Sensing Centre-Central (RRSC-C), Nagpur.

ICESC-2020 was inaugurated on 4 th December, 2020. Shri. Yash Panhekar, General Manager, BSNL, Nagpurwas the Chief Guest and Shri. Chandru Iyer, Head of Business Development, Grant Thornton, UK LLP was the keynote speaker.

Shri. YashPanhekar, in his speech emphasized the importance of contemporary telecommunication facilities but raised concern about declining communication skills in the newer generation which essential to bind the people together. He has provided participants with insights of 5G communications technology and current research, still in labs, on 7G technologies. In his speech, Shri Yash Panhekar praised and credited the organizers for hosting the conference on the emergent themes of contemporary research and disruptive technologies.

Shri ChandruIyer, Head of Business Development, South Asia Group, Grant Thornton, London, UK and distinguished alumni of RCOEM delivered the keynote address on ‘Time to Market vs.Market Needs’. He emphasized need of market survey for research fraternity and understanding of precise time to market for converting idea in to the existence.

The plenary Talk was delivered by Mr. Chetan Hiremath, Senior Principal Engineer at Intel Corporation USA, Mr. Akhilesh Yede, Vice President, Head of Engineering - AirtelXlabs, and Mr. Shobhit Joshi, Offering Strategic Leader - Telco & Enterprise Networks (5G & Edge), IBM.

ICESC-2020 brought together researchers in the field of Communicating Technologies, Signal Processing, VLSI/Embedded Systems, Intelligent System and individuals involved in engineering Practices during pandemic situations. With a view to keeping the academic fraternity abreast with the contemporary developments in emerging fields of Communications & Computing technologies, ICESC-2020 has proved to be an international forum for the exchange of ideas among researchers, students, academicians, and practitioners in the areas of Communications & Computing Systems . The conference witnessed series of plenary sessions and oral presentation sessions covering a variety of technical domains and research work of participants providing a means of engraving the minds of the participants and teaching fraternity.

The conference received overwhelming response from the researchers across the universities and industries in India and abroad. Out of 77 research papers received, 36 papers were selected for presentation and journal publication. For each of the 5 tracks, a Best Paper was selected and awarded at the valedictory Function of ICESC-2020 on 5 th December, 2020. 

Dr. Rajesh Pande, Principal & Honorary Chair appreciated the efforts of Conference General Chair Dr. Rajesh Raut and praised the organizing team of ICESC-2020 for this successful organization.

RCOEM Launches New Programs in Emerging Areas

Few years ago nobody would have believed that all the house hold appliances can be monitored using a hand held mobile phone with an application. It was beyond imagination that an entire plant could be run by machines with minimal or without any human intervention. But today, all that has come true. Science and Technology have brought about remarkable changes that may have been unthinkable just a few years back. Our lives have become simpler but faster too. With cutting-edge advancements taking place in the world of science and technology, it is only natural that the careers in this domain keep evolving too.

Keeping this in view Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management has Introduced 5 New program’s in the field of emerging areas. Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management started in the year 1984 with a vision to provide world class technical education. The Institute was started by Shri Ramdeobaba Sarvajanik Samiti (SRSS) under the able leadership of Visionary Shri Banwarilalji Purohit. The institute started with 4 branches but kept on adding more streams based on the changing requirements of the industry. The Institute offers M.Tech Programs in different streams and has over the years built a reputation of being a quality education provider and has become extremely popular among the students and employers.  During this journey the Institute realised and recognised the importance of Computer Applications and Managerial skills and started with MCA, MBA and MBA (Integrated) program. Today, the Institute offers 12 UG and 10 PG programs.  

Development of the nation is a priority for our visionaries and it is their endeavour to create trained well-read and practically updated manpower. Create citizens equipped to manage, create, re-create and adapt so that the nation progresses towards an era hitherto unheard of. Data Science

Back in early 2000, Clive Humby stated, “Data is the new oil.” In 2017, The Economist published their report - “The world’s most valuable resource is no longer oil, but data”. Certainly, data is at the success of every business. There has been a tremendous growth in technologies, methods and techniques to deal with efficient data storage and retrieval.  The past decade has also witnessed the significant increase in the processing infrastructure and advent of deep learning techniques and software-hardware handshaking in realizing the otherwise impossible tasks.  

It is reported that in 2020, daily about 2.5 quintillion (1 followed by 18 zeros) bytes of data is generated.  It is attributed majorly to internet e-commerce, emails, mobile data and data from IoT devices.  With data taking a centre-stage in terms of the velocity (i.e., the rate of creation), the volume and the variety has led to assuming a greater “value” to it. This “value” dimension is decisive in making or breaking the business and provides for strategic planning & growth. The “value” is generated through extracting actionable insights from the data using scientific method processes, and algorithms.

Data Science is closely related to data mining, machine learning and big data. It involves managing and processing an enormously large volume of enterprise data, both structured and unstructured, in a distributed environment. The pillars of data science are - business, statistics, communication, and programming.  The data science deliverables range from prediction and classification to recommendation, optimization and forecasting. Data science is all about making sense of data and presenting it for effective decision making.  With Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Amazon owning 1,200 petabytes of people’s information and with over 4.5 billion internet users in the world, the domain of data science and analytics is going to drive the businesses in coming few decades.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

The entire business community commonly uses artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) terms in today’s era. For the overall development of the nation and to compete with the technology around the world, AI and ML play a significant role. These fields give benefits to the businesses like increasing revenue and profits, cutting costs, improving operational efficiency, evaluate their business models, and enhance their decision-making process and so on. Therefore, every type of industry recruits AI and ML experts for growing their business. Echo and Alexa enabled devices, Smart phones, Smart Cars and drones, Trading, Navigation and travel etc. are the examples of AI and ML applications. Department of Computer Science & Engineering have powerful devices like Nvidia DGX Station, GPUs for working on big data. These devices helps student for solving real world AI and ML problems. The future of AI and ML is everything that human thinks. This course will take the students to the new heights for achieving the promising career.

Cyber Security

Advancement in technology has made our day to day life gravitating toward the world of the internet, mobile computing and electronic media. This phenomenon has exposed us to malicious attacks, invasions of privacy, fraud and other such cyber-attacks vulnerability. Cyber security is the state or process of protecting and recovering computer systems, networks, devices, and programs from any type of cyber-attack. Considering the immense growth in this domain, the top global companies like Amazon, Google, Cisco, Visa, and KPMG are making good investments on cyber security professionals with the skills to outsmart phishers, hackers, and cybercriminals. They identify the potential risk within a system and design solutions for its improvement which is hard to penetrate and secure the users' data. It is one of the most demanding professions and offers immense scope for growth. 

Biomedical Engineering

Computer simulation for surgery, medical imaging, artificial organs all these are outcomes of the Biomedical Engineering. Biomedical engineering is one of the youngest engineering disciplines. It applies the principles and tools of engineering to solve problems in the field of medicine, healthcare and related areas. This field offers tremendous opportunity for growth as more and people are becoming health conscious and are willing to shell out money for gadgets like fitness tracking bands. This field offers a promising future and holds a plethora of opportunities for developing new products that could improve the healthcare services and assist the Doctors. A degree in above programs will prepare the students for a fruitful future and promising career.

Robotics and Automation

Whenever a mother tells her kids to clean the mess in the room, the first thing that the kids wish is a robot that would come and clean the room. May be one such kid grew up to be an engineer and created a robot that could express emotions, walk and talk like humans. If you are also thinking of outsourcing some similar task then Robotics and Automation Engineer might be the person to help you. Robotics engineers need the knowledge of mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, computer programming, artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, and related areas.


Inauguration of RCOEM-TATA-CIIIT Center of Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training by Hon'ble Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari

“Innovation, Technology and Research will pave the way for Atma Nirbhar Bharat” Shri Nitin Gadkari, Honourable Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Minister of Shipping and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Government of India. Chief Guest for Inauguration function of RCOEM-TATA-CIIIT Center of Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training.

Speaking on the occasion the Honourable Minister said, “The present scenario has opened up new set of opportunities for the nation and the world is looking favourably towards India”. He further said that India’s growth story will depend upon innovation, technology and research. He opined that educational institutions such as RCOEM will play a major role in research and joint ventures such as this will bring practical experience inside the class. He emphasized that practical experience is essential and should be used to complement theory. He also apprised the audience about some of the proposals being considered by the ministry.  He expressed his happiness and said that more such initiatives are required as it will be instrumental in promoting the cause of   Atma Nirbhar bharat.  He said technological development is the need of the hour and in this endeavour educational institutions/ universities can play a vital role by doing practically relevant research. He stressed that research and technological development have to drive the growth in rural areas and people. He said it is good for Nagpur and Vidarbha that such a center has come up and he congratulated the entire team and wished them luck for the future. 

Director, Government projects and Skill Development, Tata Technologies Mr. Sushil Kumar Singh also shared his views on the occasion. He informed the audience how the process of creation of this center started. Mr Singh, said, today it has become extremely important that we promote the culture of hands on experience and experimentation. In promoting the cause of practical application of theory, CIIIT will provide a platform for students to experiment and test the theory. He also informed that TTL intends to collaborate with RCOEM for the development of Electric Vehicles eco system in Nagpur. He was happy that this venture has taken off in the right spirit and will go a long way in creating technically competent manpower for industry.

The Vice-Chairman of RCOEM and Chairman of Solar Industries also addressed the audience. In his address he thanked TTL for collaborating with RCOEM and assured the audience that center will live upto the expectations of all the stakeholders. He further added that this collaboration will contribute in nation building.

Principal RCOEM Dr. R S Pande gave introduction and apprised the audience about various developments and achievements of the college. He informed that RCOEM is introducing 5 new courses BE in Data Science, Cyber Security, AI & ML and Biomedical and M. Tech in Robotics and Automation from academic session 2020-21.

The objectives of CIIIT are well aligned with the Government’s vision and mission of innovation, entrepreneurship and skill development. In line with that, RCOEM-TATA Technologies-CIIIT intends to leverage the theme of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’. The course contents and training designed for the students of CIIIT enables the competency development in modern engineering tools that is necessary for product design, development and manufacturing and provide the students to gain insights of industry 4.0 and other disruptive technologies.

The three competency centres namely ‘Innovation Design and Incubation’, ‘Integrated Advanced Manufacturing’ and ‘Machine Learning’ will enable the future generations of Technocrats with up-to-date knowledge and tools.  CIIIT comprises of modern shop-floor machines and equipment like, Vertical machining Centre, Manufacturing Execution system, Arc Welding Robot, Pick and Place Robot, 3-D Printer, 3-D scanner and Internet of things sensor kit etc. Further, availability of about 10 professional software like, MSC Nastran, Patran, Adams machinery studio, 3-D Experience, Delmia, scFLOW, Marc, Easy5, FEAST and i-get-it adds tremendous technological values to aspiring technocrats of next generation.

With modern equipment and sophisticated technologies, RCOEM-TATA CIIIT ensures employability to the trained-students in industry-specific domains. The modern technical facility and skill-development training comprises of the most of the perquisites that are essential qualifications for under graduate and post graduate students for employability and placement in multi-national companies.

The students, technocrats and workforce trained at CIIIT will eventually be either absorbed as skilled resources in the industry or they would be self-sufficient to become entrepreneurs. RCOEM-TATA CIIIT assures to strengthen the industry-academia partnership, impart the qualitative improvement in technical education, create skilled workforce to cater to current and future industrial landscape of the region.

This strategic initiative is an outcome of the commitment of RCOEM TBI Foundation, a section 8 company registered under section 7 of the Companies Act, 2013 established at RCOEM, towards building a strong eco-system for nurturing innovation and Start-ups in the region. TBI was established to give momentum to   innovation, entrepreneurship and incubation support related activities. It is a flagship initiative of the institute, intended to inculcate entrepreneurship and new venture creation based on innovative technology.
