IEI Young Engineers Award 2020-21 conferred on RCOEM faculty - Dr. Sandeep Joshi

Dr. Sandeep Joshi, Assistant Professor of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur has received the ‘IEI Young Engineers Award’ by The Institution of Engineers (India) for the year 2020-21. The award was given in recognition of his contribution in the field of Mechanical Engineering on the occasion of the 36th Indian Engineering Congress” held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on December 26, 2021. The award ceremony was inaugurated by shri. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of Heavy Industries, Government of India and the award was given by Shri. Narendra Singh, President IEI. 

The Institution of Engineers (India), a multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers is always at the forefront of the engineering profession addressing the socio-engineering problems for the progress of the country. The ‘IEI Young Engineers Award’ is awarded to the young engineers for their outstanding contribution in 15 engineering domains focusing on engineering research, excellence in engineering technology development, and technology transfer.


This year's recipient of this elite award, Dr. Sandeep Joshi has earned his Ph.D. from VNIT Nagpur in year 2018. He is deeply involved in applied research in Mechanical Engineering where his excellence has been proven several times over the years. One of his innovations on the solar photovoltaic thermal systems has been granted a Patent recently whereas 8 of his other innovations are under examination at Indian Patent Office. He has published more than 30 research papers in reputed journals which include the journals of ASME, Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis and many others.  He also has presented several papers in international conferences at various institutes of National Importance. He is also serving as a reviewer for several reputed international journals and research funding agencies. He has guided more than 15 postgraduate research projects in the area of solar energy. Previously, his research contribution has also been endorsed by ‘Best crazy idea awards’ by CSIR NEERI, Nagpur and ‘Best paper award’ by NIT Trichy. He was also honoured with ‘Young Researcher Award’ by RCOEM Nagpur. 

Dr. Joshi gives credit for this success to college management, mentors, students, colleagues, and family.
