Country got freedom on August 15, 1947. Like every year, this year also, the Independence was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at RCOEM Campus, Nagpur by the NSS Unit. The ceremony started at 9.30 am in front of the Admin Block with the presence of all the guests, faculty members, staffs and students.
To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Chief Guest, Shri Chandrakantbhai Thakar (Vice-Chairman) hoisted the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom in the presence of Hon. General Secretary Shri Govindlalji Agrawal; Secretary Shri Kailashchand Agrawal; Treasurer Shri Ashokkumar Pacheriwala, and other respected committee members Dr. Purshottam Paldiwal, Shri Bhagwandasji Daga, Shri Dinesh Agrawal and Principal, Dr. Rajesh Pande along with the other faculties, staff and students of the college. After the national anthem, the Chief Guest Shri Chandrakantbhai Thakar addressed the crowd reminding of the great sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and inspired us to serve our motherland.
This year, RCOEM also celebrated the birth Centenary of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, (Padma Bhushan & Padma Vibhushan) father of Indian Space Programme. In accordance with this celebration, the theme of this year’s Independence Day was the journey of ISRO. Also, we are glad that Padmashree Dr. Vedachalam, retired Director of ISRO Inertial Systems Unit is a member of college advisory board.
Various backdrop was made by NSS Unit which includes Aryabhatta satellite, Pragyan Rover, IRNSS (navigation satellite), GSLVMK3 (launching vehicle). Various acts were performed by Music Club, Drama Club and Dance Club awakening everyone’s feelings towards the motherland.
The programme concluded up with the vote of thanks by NSS Secretary. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
