Technovision has always been a front-runner in achieving this motto since its inception. It has consistently grown in stature in terms of its content, infrastructure and logistics through the years. It attracts enthusiastic students and professionals from all over the country. The overwhelming crowd of such a huge magnitude and world-class technological display makes it a technical extravaganza. Technovision has scaled great heights of success through many years and paved its way into being considered as one of the biggest technical fests of Central India.
Technovision has been a commendable 15 years journey and this year also the college successfully organized its 11th edition. On 24th August, the inaugural ceremony took place in presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Pramod M. Padole, Director of VNIT College. Honourable Shri Govindlalji Agarwal, General Secretary, Dr. Rajesh Pande, Principal; Dr.(Mrs.)R. R. Khandelwal, Convener and Prof. P. V. Shiwalkar, Co-convener were also present at the event. After lighting the lamp and delivering a motivational speech for all the students, the Chief guest also launched the technical Magazine ‘Souvenir', for the 11th edition of Technovision. The ceremony was followed by various events under this TechFest like robo-olympia, paperfest, breadboard maze and so on. They were a technical treat to all the enthusiasts. The cherry on the cake were the intriguing workshops that followed.
Robo-olympia was just the perfect event for young techies. It was held on 24th and 25th August 2018, under the guidance of our faculty incharge Prof. P.R.Selokar. It was comprised of 3 rounds with the initial round conducted on 24th August and the semi-finals and finals on 25th August. The event mainly focussed on how a bot can cross the obstacle course and reach the finish line in shortest duration of time for the first 2 rounds and the final round was a robo soccer match. This event tested everything including power of the robot and controlling skills.
Breadboard maze was also conducted on 24th and 25th of August under the guidance of our faculty incharge Prof. Jitendra Zalke. This event was based on electronic circuits in which electric circuits were implemented on breadboard for getting the output without implementing them on PCB (Printed Circuit Board). Under third event, 3 rounds were conducted providing different tasks to the participants. In each round, qualifiers were decided on the basis of showing correct output and time taken to get the output.
Another interesting event was Aquabot which means water-robot (boat). This event was organized on 24th and 25th of August 2018, under the faculty incharge Prof. A. K. Jha, guiding the event. The main task in this event was to pick maximum number of boxes from one location and drop them to another location travelling through water in given time period. This event checked the robotic skills of the participants like design, control, stability, etc. The main challenge before the participants was to control the robot over turbulence. In the final round, 2 bots had to compete face to face. Team with the maximum points emerged as the winner.
Tech-quiz tested the technical awareness of the participants. It consisted of a series of online and offline rounds which tested their hands on technology and their spontaneity. The tests included questions from all domains like electronics, coding, mechanics, general awareness to test a technocrat. The first 2 rounds were online quizzes and the later was a buzzer round thus increasing the complexity and making it more interesting. The motive of the event was to increase technical awareness of the candidates and at the same time develop team spirit and trust among participating duo teams. It was held on 24th and 25th of August 2018.
Paperfest was a unique event under Technovision 11.0 which dilated the scope for aspiring engineers to present and discuss various aspects of electronic system design, software/hardware trade-off, electrical and mechanical applicable technologies. Students submitted their view-points in the form of paper relating to themes like Electronics, Computers, Mechanical/Industrial, Electrical, Civil, Engineering in Medicine. Initially, participants had to submit an abstract of their Research/Project. Based on that, competent teams were given a chance to present their papers and winners were based on their presentations. It was organized on 24th and 25th of August 2018, under the guidance of our faculty incharge Dr.Madhuri Tayal.
Apart from events, various ravishing workshops under Technovision 11.0 included 3D Printing, Python Programming, Artificial Intelligence and many more.
3D printing is basically an Additive Manufacturing Technique. This workshop gave opportunity to all the participants to get acquainted with the working of a 3D printer which is going to revolutionize the world. The workshop dealt with recent developments in additive manufacturing and emerging 3D printing technologies, Rapid Prototyping, etc. Live demonstration on 3D printer ‘JULIA 2’ was given by our faculty incharge, Prof.M.G.Trivedi. The workshop was held on 23rd of August 2018.
The 2 day workshop on Data Analytics using Hadoop was conducted on 24th and 25th of August 2018, delivered by our faculty in charge, Prof. Shweta Jain. In this workshop, the participants got familiarized with different technology trends, salary trends, Big Data Market and different job roles in Big Data analytics like- what Hadoop is for, Hive and Pig can be used to analyze big data sets, High quality documents demos, Hive queries, Pig queries, how to install Hadoop in your machine and so on.
Another workshop which got overwhelming response was Python Programming. Held on 22nd and 23rd August 2018, our faculty in-charge, Dr.Ramchand Hablani taught students and helped them learn new concepts. Python programming language is used worldwide for the purpose of data science and analytics. In this workshop, students learnt the following things- Python Setup installation, how Python libraries integrate to make a larger system, practical application of Python, how to optimize and reduce the complexity of code and so on.
Familiarization with Solar Power System was also a very useful workshop conducted on 21st August 2018 delivered by our faculty in charge Prof. P. Sawarkar. The participants were provided with the knowledge about solar products and a demonstration on how to install and how to construct was also shown to the students.
The workshop on Modern Surveying Techniques focussed on new methodologies that are now a days being used on the field at present in India. Students were taught about TOTAL STATION and GIS. It included Introduction to Advanced Surveying Techniques, Introduction to Remote Sensing, demonstration of total station, etc. it was conducted on 25th August 2018. Our faculty in-charges Prof.H.D.Bhave and Prof.P.P.Dahale were there to ignite the minds of young technocrats.
The Artificial Intelligence workshop was another workshop that caught attention of many. It was held on 24th and 25th August 2018 under the guidance of faculty in charge Prof. Vasundhara Rathod. The workshops introduced participants to Machine Learning and were trained on real image data. Total 16 hours of instructions were carried on. Two major projects were Predicting Stock Market Rates using previous records and Object Detection. The workshop had an overwhelming response from the students. It was conducted by Google Speakers, Mr. Ali Mustafa Shaikh and Mr.Charandeep Singh.
Thus, Technovision 11.0 undoubtedly proved to be a great learning platform and a memorable experience for all its participants.
